Eligibility Requirements For Membership in the Auxiliary
VFW Auxiliary Members are...
Wives or Husbands
Widows or Widowers
Mothers or Fathers
Foster, stepmothers or stepfathers (who have performed the duties of parent)
Grandmothers or Grandfathers
Daughters or Sons
Granddaughters or Grandsons
Foster, stepdaughters or stepsons (who attained that status prior to the age
of sixteen and for whom the duties of parent were performed)
Sisters, half sisters, foster and stepsisters or Brothers, half brothers, foster and
stepbrothers (who attained that status prior to age sixteen)
...of persons who were or are eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Members must be citizens of the United States and at least 16 years old.
Those who are dual members in both the VFW and Auxiliary may retain their dual membership, but those new members who after joining the Auxiliary become eligible for VFW membership must join the VFW and are dropped from the Auxiliary.
